Safety is the primary concern and at the very foundation of our entire construction process. Our motto of “Work Safe Today” is not just a slogan but an operational way of life. DOC creates a site-specific safety plan, which addresses the issues and situations intrinsic to each project. Our Safety Director holds regular safety inspections and reviews all safety procedures with the subcontractors, tradesmen and the entire project team. DOC field personnel perform daily safety reviews of site conditions to track compliance and work to ensure abatement of any condition(s) not meeting compliance.
Daniel O’Connell’s Sons has long been considered a pioneer in its commitment to achieving the highest level of safety on all its projects. Our first comprehensive Safety Program Manual was written over 40 years ago, and has been used as a model by OSHA and several private insurance companies with whom we have worked. The manual establishes our safety policy and details procedures to be used on all construction projects in accordance with the following standards:
- OSHA guidelines and federal requirements
- State guidelines
- DOC company policies, based on self-performing construction over the past 125 years
The DOC Safety Program Manual is complete, comprehensive and thorough and is updated consistently.
