Marist College – Steel Plant Studios

Renovation and addition to Marist’s Steel Plant Studio, a former industrial building that is home to the college’s Art Gallery and houses the Fine Arts and Fashion programs.

Project Features

  • 12,000-SF renovation of the existing Steel Plant building.
  • 35,000-SF, two-story addition wrapped in an “L” shape around the existing building.
  • Existing space included brick masonry walls, concrete floors and exposed 15-foot ceilings.
  • The roof was removed and fully replaced.
  • 2” thick granite bathroom partitions.
  • Addition included a complex curtainwall with multiple layers of products.
  • Interior finishes included moving walls, polished concrete, metal slatted and metal panel ceilings, huge metal barn doors, and exposed steel.  
  • Completed in 14 months.
