Harvard Law School Langdell Hall

The highly complex renovation of the historic main library of Harvard Law School was carried out while portions of the building remained operational, including the Rare Book Collection room. The project demanded detailed logistical planning to minimize disruption to building occupants and to safeguard the priceless collection of rare books. The building’s interior was completely gutted and reconfigured by architect Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott for new structural and mechanical systems, floors, and interior finishes. The extremely tight site required daily interaction between DOC and the entire campus community.
