The project for the South Florida Water Management District is to construct a fully automated, electrically operated two (2) gate spillway with design capacity of 1,150 cfs to be built just north of the existing S-333 Structure at the intersection of the L-67A and L-29 Canals in the Everglades. The purpose of the proposed S-333N Structure is to provide additional operational flexibility and conveyance of flows to Everglades National Park. The work involves construction of the new spillway with the associated canal excavation, levee construction and stabilization. The project also includes a new air boat ramp, sidewalks, pavement, control building with instrumentation, motor operators, telemetry, site lighting, underground propane tank, electric service conduit with associated horizontal directional drill under the L-29 canal.
