Clients, architects, and construction managers at the forefront of creating cutting edge facilities should also be at the forefront of creating buildings that do not unnecessarily deplete scarce resources, either during or after construction. We know that environmentally friendly design and construction methods are by far the most important commitments in construction today, even as the technology for sustainability is evolving. As engineers, we know that buildings designed to be sustainable could cost only slightly more than similar conventional approaches when factoring in the benefits of life-cycle cost savings. As builders, we also know that sustainability is our responsibility, so we understand how to work with team members in a collaborative manner.
