Tidewater Substation Utility Upgrade
National Grid retained Daniel O’Connell’s Sons to reconstruct a regulator station/system interconnect located at their Pawtucket, RI facility. This facility is part of the former legacy Providence Gas Company & Valley Gas Company distribution system. DOC was responsible for preconstruction survey, shutdown planning and coordination, shut-in and purging of station, demolition, and performing building and site renovations. This project presented many challenges for both National Grid and DOC due to age of the facility and unknown underground obstacles. DOC worked closely with Nation Grid to develop an extended scope and to mitigate all potential hazards to complete a safe and successful project.
