Deer Island
The Deer Island Primary and Secondary Clarifier Rehabilitation project consists of cleaning, repairs and collector equipment replacements in 48 primary clarifiers and 54 secondary clarifiers, as well as cleaning and performing sluice gate repairs in 4 primary influent channels. Each clarifier is cleaned and any necessary concrete, expansion joint and Linabond repairs are preformed. After that work is complete, the existing longitudinal and cross collector sprockets, chain and flights are removed, as well as any worn wear strips and grease lines. The existing shafting is leveled and the collector equipment is then replaced. Work is of course ongoing while the plant continues its day to day operations serving 43 communities in the greater Boston area.
