Amherst College Infrastructure Project
The Infrastructure Improvement Project significantly updated a large portion of Amherst College’s systems that support every facility on campus. A major component of the project was the conversion of the primary electrical distribution from 4,800 volts to the modern standard of 13,800 volts. Other system upgrades included steam, water, chilled water, storm drains, sanitary drains, fiber, and telephone. DOC completed over $4 million in site infrastructure in 11 weeks, while the campus was fully occupied with summer programs. We also successfully completed the switchover of all main utilities without any major interruptions to college activities.
