The Eric Carle Museum, a contemporary building set in a rural orchard, showcases a collection of picture book art from around the world, including original work from renowned artists Eric Carle and Maurice Sendak. DOC provided extensive preconstruction and construction management services for this complex project. At the beginning of the project DOC managed an extensive soil remediation program with strict environmental controls, ensuring the safety of a nearby day care center, college, and condominium complex. Extraordinary craftsmanship was required to create the high-quality, dramatic galleries and educational program areas designed by Juster Pope Frazier Architects. The demanding fast-track schedule for the project called for construction to continue throughout the winter months.
