Amherst College Williston Hall

Amherst College Williston Hall
One of the first components of the college’s Residential Master Plan, the conversion of Williston Hall turned this existing classroom/office building into a modern residence hall. Construction included the delicate dismantling and replacement of the entire interior structure down to the brick shell, then replacing the existing wood framing with structural steel and concrete slab floors. The building received a new roof, windows, and substructure, while ensuring that the historic character of the structure remained. Project challenges included a very restricted site and minimizing the impact of construction on this actively functioning campus.
