Amherst College – Seligman House

The Seligman House student dormitory renovation and expansion project at Amherst College included a 12,300-SF renovation as well as a 9,200-SF addition to the historic building.

Project Features

  • First renovation in the building’s 80-year history.
  • Block and precast plank structure with a brick exterior.
  • The interior renovation maintained much of the existing character of the building including exposed wooden beams and fireplaces.
  • Existing roof of slate shingles replaced with synthetic slate shingles with copper flashing and gutters.
  • Updated all mechanical and energy-efficiency systems.
  • Improved accessibility and energy-efficiency.
